We are pleased to announce our main attraction for 2018 is the breath taking Atkinson Action Horses!
This years main attraction are holders of two Guinness World records and providers of highly trained horses and riders for film, TV and live events such as our show. Recent productions which you will have seen their horses in include Victoria, Peaky Blinders and Poldark.
Live shows are where it all started over 20 years ago and they are still drawing the crowds with their high energy, explosive, breath taking shows! They have a range of horses which are precisely trained by Ben Atkinson and his team. They are trained in a variety of disciplines, including Spanish High School, Airs Above the Ground, Liberity, Trick/Stunt Riding, Falling, Jousting and many more. With all these disciplines I am sure they will draw the crowds around our main ring for two spectacular 30 minute displays on show day!
Historic Westland Wasp Helicopter
The classic 1960’s historic Westland Wasp will be joining us on show day for a ground static display. You will be able to ask the pilot questions and take photos by the helicopter.
The Westland Wasp HAS1 is a first generation jet engine helicopter that was built for the Royal Navy, based on an original Saunders Roe concept of a light utility helicopter for the British Army – the Scout AH1.
Dog and Duck Show
Appearing at over 100 events over the past couple of years, their unique show is hugely popular with any type of audience. Their two 30 minute demonstrations are entertaining and educational and include fascinating insights into how to understand dogs, demonstrations of dogs’ natural instincts and a very amusing display of sheep dogs working with ducks.
Stuart Barnes has travelled many countries working with wildlife, and his passion for the canine species has enabled him to gain an incredible understanding of everything about dogs. In countryside shows, like ours, Stuart and his team use trained and untrained sheep dogs to herd ducks, amusing and educating the audience about common dog behaviour issues and about how these can be resolved. The show demonstrates how untrained and poorly behaved dogs still have a programmed natural instinct, giving the audience a new understanding of the Way of the Dog.
by The Falconry Centre, Hagley
Andy brings along a varied selection of birds of prey along with him. He provides a static display, so people can see them up close and ask any questions about the birds, as well as as performing two flying displays in our main ring. Expect to see a selection of birds, such as Harris Hawks, Owls, Falcons and at least one of our Eagles.
The flying display consists of Hawks and Owls flying at very close quarters to people and falcons flying at speeds of over 40mph. In previous years Andy and his birds have been a fantastic attraction, especially with the children who he encourages to join him in the main ring during the display. You can also visit their static display where you can see a selection of bird of prey, souvenirs and mementos.
Paul and his minibeast Roadshow will once again be bringing all sorts of creepy crawlies. This is an exciting opportunity for children (and adults) to get up close and personal with exotic creatures in a safe environment.
Paul is retiring from his busy schedule of taking the Minibeast Roadshow around the country this year and we are honoured that he has chosen the Whitacres and Shustoke show as his last event.
